About Trinity

Why

TRINITY?

LOCATION

Lots of colleges say they have a central location. And they do. What they won't say is that the vast majority of Oxford's faculties and departments are are actually in North Oxford. Trinity is on the northern edge of the town centre: meaning Tesco, Sainsbury's, and all the shops on Cornmarket Street (Oxford's main shopping street) are within a three minute walk from the gates; but even the most far-flung northerly faculties like Maths are within a ten minute walk.

And on top of that, none other than the legendary Hassan's Kebab Van parks directly opposite Trinity every day from 7pm-2am to meet all your late night power food needs.

COMMUNITY

Despite the college's spacious grounds, Trinity has relatively few students in each year and is one of the smaller colleges in the University. This means there is a strong community atmosphere, and it's easy to get to know everyone in your year. In addition, first and second years both live on-site together, meaning you will come to know many of those in the years above and below - Trinity is the kind of place where you can recognise just about anyone you see about college, something that can be hard to do at a larger college.

When you start at Trinity, you are assigned two 'college parents', which are second years who are there to look after you, answer any questions you might have and help you settle in quickly.

The tutors at Trinity are friendly and always willing to do their best to ensure you can maintain a healthy work-life balance during your time at Oxford.

FOOD

The food at Trinity is among the best it's possible to find in Oxford.

Three meals are served in our 17th-century dining hall every weekday, while on weekends the famous Trinity brunch and an evening meal is served. All food is charged on a pay-as-you-go basis, so you can eat in hall as much or as little as you like.

The prices are extremely affordable - £1.50 for a full English breakfast, £2-£4 for lunch for depending on serving size, and three course, fully-catered and served dinners for £4.36 several times a week - we call these three course meals 'formals' (although you don't have to dress formally!). On Fridays, instead of the usual dinner we have our more-formal 'guest night' - a four course feast for just shy of £20 and ideal for treating your family or friends to after a solid week's work.

GROUNDS

We're might be a bit biased, but we think Trinity is the most beautiful college in Oxford. Just have a look at some of the beautiful photos dotted around this site if you don't believe us! The Trinity College grounds are some of the largest in Oxford, which means we've got bags of room for lovely gardens, tranquil woodland and - crucially - the massive back lawns, which we are free to walk, play croquet and picnic on all summer long (surprisingly rare in Oxford!)

HOUSING

Both the first and second years live on-site in Trinity's stunning grounds in a mix of historic buildings and brand new staircases. Once you reach your second year you have your pick some of the best rooms in Oxford - mostly double sets with a shared living room and views out over Trinity's lush garden quad. Third and Fourth years live in spacious college owned accommodation in North Oxford, in flats of 2-5 bedrooms - about a 10 minute cycle from college.

PORTERS

One of Trinity's most special features. Our on-site porters' lodge is manned 24/7 by a team of the loveliest, most charming and most helpful people you'll ever meet. Some Oxford colleges have infamously grumpy or difficult porters, which is why Trinity is so proud of its universally acclaimed lodge team, who you'll grow to love within days of your arrival. If you need help with anything, day or night, the porters are always on hand.
